The Forest Preserve District manages three 18 hole golf courses, Atwood Homestead, Ledges, and Macktown - which are open to the public from April until the end of October. Golfers in Winnebago County enjoy excellent conditions at all three courses. County golf premier cards which permit use of all three courses may be purchased at District Headquarters. Daily rates are also available and can be purchased at the course clubhouse. Individuals may also register private golf carts for annual use on courses at District Headquarters.

Atwood Homestead

The course opened in 1971 on land donated by Seth B. Atwood. The large stone family homestead has been remodeled and serves as the Clubhouse and Pro Shop. The course was designed by Charles Maddox to present a variety of golf alternatives so that golfers may select the tees most appropriate for their ability. Contact Golf Pro: Steve Hare at (815) 623-2411.
